Osiris D3: The Legendary skate shoe!

First pair of Osiris D3’s

Flash back to 2001 and all the cool kids in school where wearing skate shoes. At the time, I was in 6th/7th grade and I wanted these shoes so bad. Specifically, I wanted the Osiris D3’s. They were the fattest shoes on the marked and I absolutely loved the way they looked. However, they were a no go in my house hold. I wasn’t allowed to be a skater kid and defiantly wasn’t allowed to dress that way. Oh but how I wanted those shoes, and well lets face it, everything about the “skater” image. I was a “tomboy” and was not a fan of the wearing pink and other “girly” colors.

As I got older and started saving money for my own clothes, I was able to start dressing the way I wanted to. I will never forget the day my sister took me to Zumiez and bought me my first Independent t-shirt. Buy the time I was in high school, shoe wise all I wore was skate shoes, and converse. Yet the legendary Osiris D3’s were no where to be found. I had missed my moment.

Can’t get enough of these shoes!

Fast forward, it is 2019 and my husband has started skateboarding. He quickly realize that his normal footwear was not going to hold up to the grip tape and he asked to help him find some good shoes for skateboarding. I was looking at the modern skate shoe and I was rather bummed out. The shoes now a days were slender and had no extra padding for protection. He had never been into the skate scene growing up so he didn’t understand what I was talking about. I googled the Osiris D3; the most iconic skate shoe of my childhood. As I went to show him what I was talking about, I discovered that the D3 had been rereleased in 2017 as the D3 2001. The D3 2001 was the EXACT same shoe, I had wanted close to 20 years ago.

It was game on, I immediately bought a few pairs and never looked back. I wear these shoes all the time. I mean all the time and they catch peoples attention all the time. Probably 2–3 times a week, someone stops dead in there tracks looking at my feet going, “Holy S***” are those D3’s. Yes, yes they are. It makes me so happy that others are as happy as I am to see that these shoes still exist and they want them too. These things are just so comfortable, you can wear them for anything. From a work to skateboarding to a 20 mile day at Disneyland. A friend in Japan saw my shoes one day and commented on how cute they where and how she had never seen shoes like that before. I got her a pair as a gift and she was through was so excited. She is a bartender and on her feet for 8+ hours straight and doesn’t want to wear anything else to work ever again. So she asked me if I could order another pair, which I was happy to do.

This is when I released that they are almost impossible to find again. I first went to the Osiris website and all though they have two different styles available right now there was nothing left in our size. So I went on to search the internet. There was NOTHING available. I was looking for my husband, who fell in love after his first pair. There was limited options available and those were $300+ dollars a pair.

This leads me to believe that these shoes are making a comeback. A comeback that will make an 1990’s skate kid ecstatic.

The question though is; if these shoes are as desired to the general skate community as they are to me and my family, will Osiris continue to make them and start making high quantities of them? I have a few more pairs tucked away, but those will only last so long and I need to add more to my collection!
