I have been a fan of subscription boxes probably as long as they have been around. I have tried more boxes than I can remember. From Ipsy and Birchbox to Loot Crate and FabFitFun, some have been monthly to quarterly and I always enjoyed when the boxes showed up. It was so much fun to see what these creators had put together for that shipment. However, over the last year or so I have cancelled all of these, due to the unsustainable products, along with the beauty products with potentially harmful ingredients in them. I have moved to make more sustainable and clean choices in all aspects of my life and these no longer fit. Even though I had made the right choice; I missed these goodies showing up at the house. Then I found something wonderful, Causebox, a subscription box I could get behind.
What is CauseBox?
CauseBox is a quarterly subscription box that costs $54.95 when billed quarterly or $49.95 when billed annually. In each box you get 6-8 products that are worth over $200. But what is it filled with? Each box is filled with ethically sourced sustainable and/ or custom cultivated jewelry, home decor, accessories, apparel, skin-care/beauty products, wellness products, and artwork. Each product is beautiful and can serve useful in your day to day life. Every product I have gotten in a CauseBox has been a perfect fit in one way or another in my life. These products are cultivated to serve you and last not end up in a landfill. The box has brochure that tells you what the products are, what the value is and most importantly the story behind the product and why it was chosen to be in that box.
Spring 2020
The spring 2020 was so exciting to get, it was the first box I got after moving to Japan. Part of the reason it was so exciting was that it was familiar and comforting, the other part was all the items where going to fit into my life in Japan well and serve great purpose. I was even lucky enough that all the color choices were my #1 picks as well. This box hit it out of the park, my favorite yet. Each box just keep getting better and better, this is box 3 for me.
Pixie Mood Zoe Crossbody $75 value
The Zoe Crossbody is a timeless everyday crossbody with a detachable strap that can be styled up or down. Made to last out of premium vegan leather.
Even though I carry a backpack around a lot, I never go any where without a purse. Medium sized Crossbody’s are my favorite. They allow my to pack all the things I need (phone, vape, wallet, keys, hairbrush, essential oils, camera, ect) while keeping my hands free. A small bag doesn’t hold enough were a large bag gets to heavy for me). I haven’t bought anything that is vegan leather at this point since I have never found anything that vegan leather, that didn’t look or feel super cheap. When I first opened the CauseBox, I found it surprising that the CauseBox has a leather bag in it; the Zoe Crossbody is so high quality I didn’t realize that it was vegan leather until I really started looking at the bag, I have only used the bag a few times but I have gotten compliments every time.
Pixie Mood is a beautiful brand that firmly believes that nothing should be harmed for fashion. Leather production has a huge negative impact on the world. While learning about Pixie Mood, I learned that up to 70% of the Amazon rainforest has been cleared for pastures, and the methane gas that cows produce is the learning contributor to rising global temperatures, trapping roughly 25x more heat than carbon dioxide.
Bentgo Stackable Bento Box $29 Value
A to-go container with two compartments and built in cutlery. Sustainably replaces single-use plastic alternatives and donates to Feed the Children.
I started using this product right away, before I even had a chance to take any photos. I am some that almost always take photos prior to using new things. I work long days in a blue collar manual labor job and taking breakfast and lunch is a must for me. Especially with COVID-19, all of the close by places to buy food are closed. This two layer box fits a complete balanced meal with a snack perfectly. I tend to fill the bottom large container with the main course; such as a salad with chicken or salmon or leftovers for lunch. I fill the top with a fruit, veggies, and some cheese. On the side, I pack some crackers to complete my snacks for the day. Breakfast is typically avocado toast with eggs, either hard boiled or poached. It has a set of cutlery which consists of a fork, spoon and knife. Although the Bentgo is made of plastic, which I try to avoid buying it is a high quality product I can see lasting for a long time. The Cutlery is sturdy and quality so it works well, unlike a lot of sets that are made cheaply leaving you feeling like they are going to break while you are using them.
Bentgo company is passionate about bring fun to having a healthy lunch. Bentgo is passionate about bringing healthy food to world, which is why they have partnered with Feed the Children to help bring food to children and families, in the United States and to 10 other countries. It is sad to me that we live in the day of age were we can get what ever we need delivered to our door step within hours or days, yet we still have children starving in the world. Supporting a company that understands this is a huge win for me.

Cardea Auset CALM Mood Mist $30 Value
A mood mist that does it all. All natural and aromatherapeutic signature product that can be used as an aid for focus, support for sleep, a body spray and everything in between.
This was another product I started using before I even got home with my CauseBox. I am a huge advocate for essential oils and I love that this product is derived from essential oils. Lavender is in my top 10 of favorite oils and this CALM mood mist has a wonderful lavender spray. I used it for the first time in my work space, bring focus and drive back to my day. I work in a very industrial area, so it is nice to bring a sense of balance into the space so easily with just a few sprays. It makes the area smell nice too which is way better than grease and oil.

Until I was blessed with my moms wedding ring from my dad when I moved to Japan. Since gold finishes are a new thing to me, I was excited to get this necklace and I can’t wait to wear it with a lil black dress when we finally are allowed to go out again. I don’t work in an area were wearing jewelry is a daily thing. So I am saving this for a special occasion when the hubby and I get dressed up and go out and enjoy a night on a town.

Artisan Direct Sustainable Grocery Starter Kit $22 Value
A set of 5 mesh and muslin bags for sustainable grocery shopping. Made by a team of artisans in Jaipur, India; these bags are ready to replace single use plastic produce and grain bags.
I have been using reusable grocery bags for a long time now but I have never had produce and grain bags. I have noticed that Japan doesn’t seem to have the bulk sections that I am a custom to in the United States. I don’t know how much use I will get out of the grain bags right away but I can’t wait to use the produce bags. Japan doesn’t have plastic bags in the produce area but they do where you bag your own groceries. I will be able to separate my produce and protect it prior to bagging it without using any plastic bags.
Jenni Earle Wild + Free Bandana $32 Value
A beautifully, bold bandana meant to serve as a talisman for courage and adventure, that is ethically by artisans from Jaipur, India.
While living in Japan, one thing I learned quickly was you always want a bandana or wash rag with you (or both). There are multiple reasons for this, from dapping the sweat off your face during the hot humid summers to tying your hair back when you don’t have a hair tie to drying your hands. About 90% of the public bathrooms have no way to dry your hands. You will never see paper towels, but electric hand dryers are also no very common. A long with a lack of hand dryers there is also a lack of soap in a lot of bathrooms, so we always keep hand sanitizer with us to be safe.
If the CauseBox seems like the right subscription box for you and your sustainable lifestyle, you can save $10 off your first CauseBox subscription.
